5 Reasons You Should Fundraise for Give a Dog a Bone

Jul 29, 2021 | Fundraising, Latest News

With the gradual easing of COVID restrictions, lots of live fundraising events are making a comeback, and it’s getting easier to set up your own fundraising events.

Here at Give a Dog a Bone…and an animal a home, we welcome and are thankful for every effort made by our supporters – helping us tackle loneliness for older adults and animal homelessness by supporting the over 60s to afford a rescue pet, in addition to providing a variety of services through our Community Spaces.

Now that event fundraising season has returned for 2021, here are 5 reasons to pick Give a Dog a Bone…and an animal a home as your chosen charity to fundraise for.

1) You will help us continue to host drop-in days in our Community Spaces.

Anyone can pop in for a free hot drink, a chat, and to see the companionship dogs. Each of our spaces also has a pet food bank that anyone who is unable to afford pet food can make use of.

2) You will help us to continue to provide individual therapies and group activities for individuals aged 60 or older.

From individual reflexology and reiki sessions to group language and creative writing classes.  Anyone over 60 is eligible to sign-up for our free services, delivered specifically to help us achieve our mission of tackling loneliness for older adults.

3) You will help provide a person over 60 with rehoming a rescue pet.

Animals in rescue organisations can start a new life with older adults. The individuals eligible for our support would otherwise be unable to afford a companion animal.

4) You will help someone over 60 afford to keep their animal companion.

This allows older adults, with a low income, to afford the regular costs associated with having a companion animal. These payments generally used for pet insurance, food, or medicine costs.

5) You will help us to increase the number of individuals and animals we can support.

We want to help as many individuals as possible and we can only do this with your support!
